Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo is a member of the elite Top Five fundraising rodeos for 2013! The Tough Enough to Wear Pink program during the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo – held January 25 – February 2 this past year program has inspired many gifts to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer at the John T. Vucurevich Regional Cancer Care Institute at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Rapid City Regional Hospital Foundation TETWP program has raised $619,205 during its history of running the program and they raised $82,310 in 2013 alone.
One-hundred percent of all the T-shirt proceeds sold during their week-long event benefit equipment purchases and cancer programs at the Regional Cancer Care Institute, located at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Just one of their creative and festive ways to engage everyone in the Tough Enough to Wear Pink program during their rodeo was The Cowgirl Pink Champagne Brunch which began four years ago. The brunch is an opportunity for cowgirls and city girls enjoying the Stock Show, some of the toughest women around, to enjoy some pampering to benefit people even tougher: Those battling cancer. One-hundred percent of all the ticket sales and silent auction proceeds benefit equipment purchases and cancer programs at the Regional Cancer Care Institute, located at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Through programs like Tough Enough, donations have enabled the purchase of an ultrasound machine and, most recently, equipment for a cancer treatment procedure called Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS).
