The Parada Del Sol Parade started off with a Siren instead of a Bang! It was led by full size Pink Fire Truck, called the Pink Ribbon Tour.
Tour aims to raise breast cancer awareness and bring that opportunity to local communities.
Glendale, Ariz., Firefighter Dave Graybill donned pink turnout gear and drove a pink fire truck across the country this fall to rally support for breast cancer survivors and research. Starting from the Glendale Fire Department in August, Graybill stopped in 32 cities to join with other firefighters, police officers and local officials to promote the cause. During Graybills Pink Ribbon Tour he called for local officials to Care Enough to Wear Pink to show support for breast cancer survivors. American City and County spoke to Graybill as he wrapped up his tour about his motivation, experiences during the adventure, and goals for continuing to generate breast cancer awareness.
From The Pink Ribbon Tour…Our program gives our City, State and Federal organizations the ability to show they care about their women by wearing her color, PINK! It doesn’t align them with a specific charity or a specific disease but lets all women know that they CARE about their fight against cancer and other health related issues. With our Country being divided in so many different ways and our economy being what it is, this brings us together for the most important people in our community and in our own personal lives.
We do not promote the color pink as just representation in the fight against breast cancer but we wear the color pink for the same reasons we put our baby girls in a pink outfit and into a pink crib, she is precious, she is perfect and it is the universal color for our women. Women and Children first in their battle for life, organizations like the Fire and Police realize this and we wear Pink with honor, we wear it collectively, because we CARE!!!!
The Parada del Sol Rodeo has been going on since 1956. The Parada del Sol Rodeo is a PRCA sanctioned rodeo and consists of 4 sessions over a period of three days, cowboys from all over the country participate.
The Parada del Sol proudly presents the 57th Annual Parada del Sol Parade. Their theme this year is Tough Enough to Wear Pink. This parade has the distinction of being known as the Worlds Largest Horse Drawn Parade. The Parade runs north up Scottsdale Road from Oak to Indian School and is filled with Pony Express Riders, Clowns, Cowboys and Groups filled with Children. It was such an excitement to see all of the pink throughout the streets.
